A 26-year-old Springfield woman died early Tuesday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 44 about three miles east of Mount Vernon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The patrol said the crash occurred at 1:45 a.m. on August 4, 2026, when a 2017 Jeep Patriot traveling eastbound was involved in the wreck. The driver, a 26-year-old woman from Springfield, was pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol reported.
A 28-year-old male passenger from Lebanon sustained minor injuries and was transported for medical treatment, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
