A Springfield man died following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 5 just north of Greenfield Road in Laclede County, according to a preliminary report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred the evening of September 16, 2026, at approximately 7:59 p.m., patrol records show. A 2021 Kia Sorento was traveling southbound on Highway 5 when it collided with a northbound 2021 Freightliner Cascadia, the report states.
The driver of the Kia Sorento, a 49-year-old man from Springfield, Missouri, sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was transported for medical treatment, according to the patrol. The driver of the Freightliner Cascadia, a 58-year-old man from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, suffered minor injuries and was also taken for medical care, the report indicates.
Missouri State Highway Patrol's Troop I responded to and is investigating the crash under incident number 260396073.
