Skateboarder injured after getting struck by a vehicle in Point Loma Heights (San Diego, CA)

A Skateboarder was injured after being struck by a car Monday in Point Loma Heights.

As per the initial information, the traffic accident took place at around 10:20 p.m. on Guizot Street and Orchard Avenue. The early reports showed that a 28-year-old skater was traveling at “a high rate of speed” southbound on Guizot Street, several blocks from the Pacific Ocean, when he rode through the stop sign at the intersection with Orchard Avenue.

At that point of time, he was hit by a 27-year-old man in a 2013 Toyota Prius, who was heading westbound on Orchard. The skateboarder had an open fracture to his left arm. The injury is not life-threatening, according to the officials. Alcohol did not contribute to the crash. No further details are available.

The incident remains under review.
