Pregnant woman dead, baby stable after a hit-and-run crash in Southfield (Southfield, MI)

On Monday, a pregnant woman died of injuries she sustained after getting hit by a vehicle Sunday in the parking lot of an apartment in Southfield.

As per the initial information, the authorities actively responded to the Country Court Apartments at 25509 Greenfield Rd. just after 3:15 p.m. on reports of a hit-and-run crash. The woman, who was pregnant, was listed in critical condition, but police confirmed early Monday that she succumbed to her injuries.

Her baby’s condition was upgraded to stable. The driver who struck the woman ran away from the scene on foot, but was arrested in the area of Lincoln and Greenfield a few minutes later. Police stated it might be connected to another incident. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
