Power outage reported after a vehicle crashed into poles south of Whitehouse (Whitehouse, TX)

A pair of power poles was brought down by a crash south of Whitehouse. The downed power lines reportedly triggered a grass fire.

As per the initial information, the traffic collision took place on Hwy 110 near Black Jack Road. The early reports showed that a vehicle slammed into a pair of power poles that had a wooden rack attached to them, with regulators on that structure. Those poles fell, and the fire was caused when the lines came down. It is unknown if the incident caused any injuries.

The emergency crews responded and had to close down traffic in both directions while they awaited Oncor’s arrival. Oncor crews arrived to cut the power to the lines. Firefighters then managed to begin battling the grass fire. Approximately 400 customers were left without power, but crews were working to get it restored as soon as possible. No other details are available.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
