A 20-year-old Poplar Bluff man suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Route D south of Wappapello, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred about 4:20 p.m. on September 9, 2026, roughly half a mile south of Wappapello in Wayne County, the Patrol's preliminary online crash report states. A 2007 Nissan Altima traveling eastbound collided with a 2021 International school bus traveling westbound, according to the report.

The Nissan's driver, the 20-year-old Poplar Bluff resident, sustained minor injuries in the crash, the Patrol said. No fatalities were reported, and the incident is classified as an injury crash involving one reported injury.

Light drizzle was falling in the area at the time of the crash, according to weather data.

Missouri State Highway Patrol's Troop E responded to the scene and is investigating the crash under incident number 260385993. Details about the school bus, including whether any passengers were aboard, were not included in the preliminary report.
