On Monday, Austin police named 58-year-old Samuel Stephens who lost his life after a vehicle hit him in South Austin earlier this month.
Samuel Stephens stopped on his bicycle on the southern curb line near the intersection of Brodie and Slaughter lanes at about 5:10 p.m. on Feb. 3. Subsequently, he attempted to cross over to a different part of the roadway. Meanwhile, a gray Chevrolet sedan hit him, as per a police investigation.
Afterwards, medics moved Stephens to a hospital where he succumbed from his injuries on Feb. 6, police said.
The driver of the gray sedan remained at the scene of the crash and was assisting investigators, police said. Moreover, police added that no criminal charges are pending.
