A 19-year-old Pilot Grove woman suffered serious injuries Thursday when her car encountered standing water on a Cooper County roadway, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The patrol said the woman was driving a 2011 Toyota Camry southbound on Route JJ, south of Lee Road, at approximately 11:50 a.m. when the vehicle drove through water covering the road.
