A 19-year-old Pilot Grove woman suffered serious injuries Thursday when her car encountered standing water on a Cooper County roadway, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The patrol said the woman was driving a 2011 Toyota Camry southbound on Route JJ, south of Lee Road, at approximately 11:50 a.m. when the vehicle drove through water covering the road.
Drizzle was falling in the area at the time, according to weather data.
The driver was the only occupant reported involved in the single-vehicle incident, per the Missouri State Highway Patrol. She was taken for treatment after sustaining serious injuries, though patrol officials did not detail the extent of her injuries or additional circumstances surrounding the crash.
