A pedestrian was seriously injured late Tuesday night after being struck along Interstate 35 northbound in Clay County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred just before midnight on August 25, 2026, near mile marker 7.4, the patrol's online crash report states. Two vehicles were involved: a 2014 Ford Focus and a 2026 Ford Explorer, both traveling northbound at the time, according to the preliminary report.

A 25-year-old female driver from Kansas City sustained minor injuries and was transported for medical treatment, the Highway Patrol reported. A 51-year-old male pedestrian from Lee's Summit suffered serious injuries and was also taken for medical care, authorities said.
