A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle on I-44 in Mount Vernon on Aug. 8, 2026, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's online crash report.
The patrol said the crash happened at approximately 9:17 p.m. and involved a 2017 Nissan NV3500 traveling eastbound. A 21-year-old male pedestrian was struck and sustained fatal injuries, the patrol reported. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol's Troop D is investigating the crash, which has been logged under incident number 260335879. No additional injuries were reported in connection with the crash, and only one vehicle was involved.
