Pedestrian dead after a hit-and-run crash in Bakersfield (Bakersfield, CA)

A pedestrian was killed after getting struck by a vehicle Sunday night in Bakersfield.

As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run crash took place on Baker Street and East California Avenue. The officers actively responded to scene at about 10:45 p.m. in response to a pedestrian crash. On arrival, responders found a person dead on the roadway.

According to the witnesses, a vehicle left the scene after the crash. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No details are available regarding the suspect or the hit-and-run vehicle.

The incident remains under active review.
