Report body
A stretch of St. Charles Road in Columbia was closed Monday morning after a crash involving a large MACK truck left the vehicle resting on its driver's side, according to the Columbia Fire Department.
The department said in a Facebook post that crews responded to the 4200 block of St. Charles Road to carry out an extrication operation involving one person trapped in the truck. Photos from the scene showed the truck lying on its side in the roadway.
Officials have not released details on the extent of injuries sustained or the circumstances that led to the truck overturning. Only one vehicle was reported to be involved in the crash.
The road closure disrupted travel through the area while emergency crews worked to free the person from the vehicle. It was not immediately clear how long the extrication effort lasted or when the road reopened to traffic.
The Columbia Fire Department has not indicated whether any additional agencies assisted with the response. No further information about the driver or the condition of the person removed from the truck has been made public.
This report is based on information shared by the Columbia Fire Department and photographs taken at the scene. Details surrounding the crash remain limited as the investigation continues.
This story may be updated as officials release additional information about the crash and the condition of those involved.
