An 87-year-old Palestine woman lost her life on Sunday as she suffered life-threatening injuries earlier that day in a two-vehicle accident. The unfortunate collision happened at the intersection of State Highway 19 and U.S. Highway 287 in Anderson County.
DPS troopers promptly responded to the news of a two-vehicle collision at about 4:29 p.m. on Sunday.
The initial crash report shows that Marie Hardin was driving a 2020 Toyota Corolla south on SH 19. Simultaneously, a 2013 Toyota Venza was moving north on SH 19.
As the vehicles came near to the intersection with US 287, the Venza, for an unknown reason, failed to yield right of way to the Corolla and turned into the path of the Corolla. This caused the Venza to hit the front left of the Corolla.
Medics shifted Hardin to CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, where the Palestine woman later died.
Medical staff admitted the driver of the Venza to Palestine Regional Hospital for treatment of his or her injuries.
Official have nit shared any further details regarding the accident.
An investigation is ongoing.
