One person in critical condition after a semi-trailer truck plunges off an overpass in Dallas (Dallas, TX)

One person was critically injured after a semitrailer plunged off an overpass early Tuesday near Interstate 35E and burst into flames after landing on train tracks below.

The early reports showed that the truck went off the overpass connecting West Woodall Rodgers Freeway with northbound I-35E at around 12:30 a.m. and dropped approximately 30 to 40 feet, crashing into a rail line. On arrival, emergency responders put out the fire and extricated the driver from the truck more than an hour later. The driver was then rushed to a hospital in critical condition.

The crash caused damage to the DART rail line, delaying Green and Orange line trains Tuesday morning. DART officials stated that shuttle buses were available between the Inwood/Love Field Station and Deep Ellum Station for Green Line passengers. The Orange Line will only service between Bachman Station and DFW Airport Station. The vehicle has since been hauled away from the tracks, but cleanup and repairs could take most of the morning commute. No other details are available.

The crash remains under investigation.
