One person hospitalized after a single-vehicle wreck in Otay Mesa (San Diego, CA)

One person was injured after a semi-truck crashed into a traffic light early Friday morning in Otay Mesa.

As per the initial information, the single-vehicle wreck took place just after 5:30 a.m. at the east end of State Route 11 at Enrico Fermi Drive. The early reports showed that a semi slammed into a traffic light, leaving the driver pinned in the cab.

The driver’s foot was stuck under the dash in the crumbled cab, and it took crews more than an hour to free him from the vehicle. The driver was transported to a hospital in unknown condition. According to the authorities, the traffic light pole was damaged but was not brought down. No other details are available.

An investigation is underway.
