One person hospitalized after a rollover crash on Loop 287; scene cleared (Lufkin, TX)

On Tuesday morning, one person was taken to a hospital after a mail truck rolled over around the Farmer’s Market on Loop 287.

At 4:38 a.m., officials were called to the scene on reports of a single-vehicle accident. The preliminary reports showed a box truck carrying mail was traveling north on Loop 287 to Nacogdoches when the driver ran off the road for an unknown reason. The truck then flipped, coming to a stop in a ditch and the mail spilled all over the roadside.

The reports also revealed that the driver managed to escape the truck on his own and was talking when responders arrived at the scene. The driver of the box truck was then transported to a local hospital to be evaluated for injuries. The City of Lufkin urged the public to avoid the area while crews worked to clear the scene. The scene was later cleared and the traffic was moving as usual. No other details are available.

The incident remains under review.
