One person hospitalized after a hit-and-run accident near the Las Vegas Strip (Las Vegas, NV)

One person received injuries after being struck by a vehicle Monday night near the Las Vegas Strip.

As per the initial information, officers immediately responded to the area of Joe W. Brown Drive and Sahara Avenue at about 5:48 p.m. on Jan. 3 after getting reports of a hit-and-run accident. The early reports indicated that a man was hit by a large vehicle that fled the scene.

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with significant injuries. According to eyewitnesses, the large vehicle is described as a SUV or “box-like” truck. Sahara Avenue was shut down to westbound traffic, however eastbound traffic is open. Authorities asked motorist to avoid the area during investigation.

The incident remains under active review.
