One person died following a rear-end crash on Southwest Freeway (Houston, TX)

On early Saturday, one person was killed after a pickup truck rear-ended another vehicle on Southwest Freeway.

As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle accident took place at about 3 a.m. on the freeway near Newcastle. The early reports indicated that a vehicle had been moving slowly or was stopped when it was hit by another vehicle.

The reports further showed that a Houston Police vehicle, which didn’t have officers inside of it, was also hit by a vehicle when crews were working at the scene. It is unclear if the crash caused any other injuries. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.

The incident remains under investigation.
