One person died, another hospitalized after a multi-vehicle accident in Long Beach (Long Beach, CA)

One person was killed and another received injuries following a wreck Saturday in Long Beach.

As per the initial information, the multi-vehicle pile-up took place at about 6:00 a.m. on the southbound 710 Freeway close to the Long Beach Boulevard exit of the freeway. The incident was initially reported as a crash between two vehicles, a Ford truck and a Honda Civic, but responders said that four vehicles were actually involved in the collision upon arriving at the scene, dismissing the initial reports as incorrect.

Emergency responders freed one person who was pinned in the wrecked vehicle, and another was transported to a hospital for treatment. One person was declared dead at the scene by paramedics. The extent of injuries sustained by the victim who was hospitalized remains unknown. While crews worked at the scene, authorities announced a Sig Alert, blocking all southbound lanes at Long Beach Boulevard. No other details are available.
