One person was killed after getting struck by a vehicle Sunday night in Indio.
As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place at 8:22 p.m. on Avenue 48 and Oasis Street. The early reports showed that a car hit and claimed the life of a pedestrian. It is unknown if the pedestrian died at the scene or after being taken to a hospital.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be involved in the crash. Officials advised drivers to avoid the area between Monroe and Jackson Street. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.
The incident remains under investigation.
