One person dead after a traffic collision in the Arlerta area of the San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles, CA)

One person died following a traffic collision Wednesday morning in the Arlerta area of the San Fernando Valley.

As per the initial information, the authorities actively responded to the area on the Southbound I-5 Freeway at Osborne at about 7:54 a.m. in response to a two-vehicle crash. One person was declared dead at the scene by the responding officers. Coroner was also at the scene and transported the body at 11:20 a.m.

According to the authorities, the driver of the white Ford Explorer crashed into another vehicle and slammed into the Osborne on-ramp sound wall. CHP and Caltrans conducted traffic as the two right lanes were shut down during the investigation. The incident caused traffic back-ups and delays for hours. CHP reopened both lanes of traffic once the vehicle was hauled away. No other details are available.

The crash remains under review.
