One person was killed following a suspected DUI crash Saturday night in Madera Acres.
As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run accident took place at about 10 p.m. on Melba Drive and Avenue 17. The early reports showed that a GMC truck driver was turning right onto Avenue 17 when it collided with a Hyundai. The car’s passenger, who was not buckled up at that time, succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
On the other hand, medics rendered aid to the truck driver for minor injuries. The car driver ran away from the scene on foot. The officers later found the driver hiding in a vacant lot. The suspect was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and felony hit-and-run. No other information is available.
The incident remains under investigation.
