One killed after head-on collision in Sun Valley (Sun Valley, NV)

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office says one person died while injuring another following a two-car crash on Sun Valley Boulevard Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities shut down road between Quartz Lane and Middlefork Drive for about two and a half hours, but opened for traffic again at around 6:30 p.m.

Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue also arrived at the scene.

The fatal accident took place around 3 p.m., when a male driver crossed over the double yellow line into oncoming northbound traffic. He rammed into a car head-on. He had not fastened his seat belt.

Following the crash, the man died at the scene. Medics rushed both drivers to the hospital. The driver of the car he hit coped minimal injuries.

The Major Accident Investigation carries on probing the accident.

At this moment, officials have not released the name of person who died.

Authorities term over speeding for weather conditions and not wearing seat belt as leading factors of the crash.
