On Sunday, a male driver lost his life after crashing his vehicle into a fallen tree. Caddo Parish deputies actively responded to the fatal crash in the 5100 block of Dixie Blanchard Road (Highway 173) just before 6:30 a.m.
“Two vehicles struck a fallen tree this morning near Blanchard, resulting in one fatality,” said Sheriff Steve Prator. A Honda Civic was going southbound on Blanchard Road when the driver struck a large tree that had fallen across the road. After which a northbound vehicle also hit the tree.
The man steering the northbound vehicle was declared dead at the scene. The other driver sustained minor injuries. Both lanes of the roadway were temporarily blocked while the tree was removed by the state highway department.
The Caddo Sheriff’s Patrol Division is looking into the crash.
