One dead, another hospitalized after a car slams into a building in Monterey Park (Monterey Park, CA)

One person died and another was injured after a car plowed into a building in Monterey Park on early Wednesday morning.

As per the initial information, the incident took place in the area of North Atlantic Boulevard and West Garvey Avenue just after midnight. The preliminary reports showed that a car, with two people inside, rolled over and careened into a building which houses a spa, which was closed at the time of the collision.

Authorities confirmed that one person died as a result of the accident. A second person was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear. Police are trying to find out if another car may have been involved, and whether it was a hit-and-run accident.

The crash remains under review.
