Authorities identified Linh Thuy Nguyen, from San Diego, as the woman who lost her life following a single-vehicle accident on the I-15 freeway.
The fatal car crash took place on Christmas Day at around 11:50 pm, along the northbound I-15, north of Halloran Summit Road in an unincorporated area of San Bernardino County. According to the investigation reports, a 42-year-old San Diego man was driving a 2000 Lexus ES300 at an unknown speed when he allowed his vehicle to drift to its right.
The car crossed the right shoulder, entered the open desert terrain where it rolled over. Due to the impact, the Lexus got fully engulfed in flames. A passing driver pulled over at the scene, extricated the male driver from the car and found the female passenger on the ground adjacent to the Lexus. Nguyen, the passenger of the Lexus was declared dead at the scene at 12:40 am.
The driver was rushed to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, NV with major injuries. The identity of the driver and the age of Nguyen are unknown at this time. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be involved in the accident. No other details are available.
An investigation continues.
