Officials identified 77-year-old Diann Simmons who died after a wrong-way crash in Harrison County (Harrison County, TX)

Authorities identified 77-year-old Diann Simmons, of Marshall, as the woman who lost her life following a wrong-way crash Tuesday night in Harrison County.

As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place at US-59, two miles north of Marshall. The preliminary reports showed that Diann Simmons was driving a 1999 Toyota Corolla on the wrong side of the roadway southbound in the northbound lane of US-59.

At that point of time, 26-year-old Lazaro Toledo Aviles, of Spring, was driving a 1997 Freightliner and towing a trailer north in the outside lane of US-59. The reports further revealed that Aviles tried to take evasive action and veered to the left.  However, the front of his vehicle hit the front left quarter of Simmons’ vehicle. Simmons was declared dead at the scene by the officials. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
