Authorities identified 63-year-old Anthony Louis Avila, of Oceanside, as the man who lost his life following a traffic collision on Thursday in North County.
The fatal motorcycle crash took place at about 4 p.m. on Highway 101 in Encinitas. According to the investigation reports, Anthony Louis Avila was heading southbound in the No. 2 lane of Highway 101 when he tried to make a left turn into the No. 1 lane to pass a vehicle in front of him.
An SUV going eastbound on Grandview Street had crossed into the motorcyclist’s lane to make a left turn into the northbound lanes when Avila’s motorcycle crashed into it, striking a parked vehicle. On arrival, emergency responders tried to revive Avila, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. No further details were provided.
An investigation continues.
