Officials identified 58-year-old Maria Mejia as the woman who lost her life following a two-vehicle accident Monday in Moreno Valley.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place at about 4:50 p.m. on Indian Street and Delphinium Avenue. The early reports showed that a pickup truck crashed into Mejia’s Gold Toyota Solara. The impact of the collision caused the Toyota to careen across the roadway.
It eventually came to a stop north of the intersection. On arrival, responders found Mejia pinned inside her vehicle and unconscious. Firefighters from the Riverside County Fire Department used hydraulic tools to extricate Mejia who was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The reports further showed that the Dodge was northbound on Indian Street and the Toyota was heading west on Delphinium Avenue. As both vehicles entered the intersection, the front side of the Dodge struck the driver’s side of the Toyota. The Dodge driver stayed at the scene. Alcohol was believed to be involved in the accident. No other details are available.
The incident remains under review.
