Officials identified 56-year-old Frank Castro who died after a pedestrian crash in Plainview (Plainview, TX)

Officials identified 56-year-old Frank Castro as the man who lost his life after being hit by a car early Monday on Interstate 27 in Plainview.

As per the initial information, the authorities actively responded to the 700 block of Interstate 27 after getting reports of an auto-pedestrian collision just after 5 a.m. Monday. The early reports showed that the man, 56-year-old Frank Castro, of Plainview, was hit and killed while walking in the southbound lane of traffic on I-27.

The reports further stated that 47-year-old Brandon Shane Skinner of Carlsbad, New Mexico was driving a 2005 Honda Civic south in the right-hand lane of I-27, south of U.S. 70. Castro was on the west side of the I-27 main lanes and was beginning to walk east across I-27 when the Civic crossed over U.S. 80 and hit the pedestrian in the roadway. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
