Officials identified 55-year-old Carlos Villela who died after being hit by a vehicle in East Austin (Austin, TX)

Officials identified 55-year-old Carlos Villela as the man who lost his life after getting struck by a vehicle Saturday night on a highway service road in East Austin.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place at about 10:20 p.m. in the northbound service road of Hwy 183 just south of Boggy Creek. The preliminary reports showed that 55-year-old Carlos Villela was in the roadway when he got hit by a Ford Raptor.

He was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigators. No other details are available at this time.

An investigation is ongoing.
