Officials identified 45-year-old James Llewellyn who died after a crash in Palmdale (Palmdale, CA)

Officials identified 45-year-old James Llewellyn as the man who was killed following a two-vehicle crash on April 1 in Palmdale that also left two others in hospital.

The fatal car accident took place at around 4:47 a.m. on 25th Street East near Avenue R. The preliminary reports showed that Llewellyn was driving a westbound black 2017 Ford Focus when he turned right onto 25th Street East from a red signal. He then took a U-turn in front of a northbound 2016 Toyota Camry which was going through the intersection on a yellow or green signal.

The Toyota Camry reportedly slammed into the driver’s side of Llewellyn’s vehicle. Llewellyn succumbed to his injuries at the scene. First responders transported the Camry’s female driver and her minor passenger to an area hospital with unspecified injuries. Drugs or alcohol did not seem to be involved in this crash. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
