Authorities identified 34-year-old Long Ta who lost his life after a hit-and-run accident on last Saturday.
On Wednesday, authorities asked for the public’s help in tracking down the SUV that ran a red light and fatally struck a pedestrian who was walking in a Fountain Valley crosswalk. The incident took place on last Saturday at around 6:20 a.m. in the intersection of Edinger Avenue and Ward Street.
The investigation reports showed that 34-year-old Long Ta, a Santa Ana resident, was walking across Edinger Avenue toward Ward Street in the crosswalk, with a green walk signal. Just then, the suspect ran a red light and struck Ta as he was in the roadway, and then drove away from the scene.
Reports further showed that the SUV was last seen traveling westbound on Edinger Avenue. Ta sustained traumatic injuries as a result of the collision and succumbed to his injuries at a hospital two days later. After the fatal incident, traffic investigators have combed through surveillance video footage and identified the possible suspect vehicle as a dark-colored 1991-1995 Chrysler or Dodge minivan with possible left, front-end damage.
The crash remains under active review.
