Authorities identified 32-year-old Geno J Gurich, of Copperopolis, as the man who died of injuries he suffered following a two-vehicle accident Sunday evening on Highway 120.
The fatal car crash took place at about 6:45 p.m. east of Perri Cone Road. According to the investigation reports, Gurich was driving a 2004 Honda Civic eastbound on the highway and at a curve when his car went over the double-yellow lines into oncoming traffic east of Perri Cone Road at a high rate of speed.
At the same time, a 2021 Mazda CX-5, driven by 34-year-old Charmin J Rogers, was traveling in the opposite direction. 41-year-old Beverley Jenkins and three children: a male age 9 and two females, ages 11 and 12, all from Oakland were riding in the Mazda. Both vehicles collided head-on with each other.

On the other hand, Beverley Jenkins and two of the children were transported through ambulance to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. The 12-year-old female was later airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento for further treatment. Alcohol is suspected to be involved in the accident. No other details are made available.
