Authorities identified 31-year-old Amanda Tikkanen, of Hudsonville, as the woman who lost her life on Tuesday after a car accident that happened on September 2.
As per the initial information, 15-year-old teen from Hudsonville collided with a semi-truck, causing serious injuries to herself and her passenger. Her passenger, a 31-year-old woman, received critical injuries and was flown to the hospital via a helicopter. Police confirmed that the passenger succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday.
The investigation reports revealed that at about 5:24 p.m. on Sept. 2, the teen was driving a 2015 blue Nissan sedan while going westbound on 44th Street and stopped at the traffic light at 14th Avenue. Then, she then made a left turn, directly in the way of an eastbound semi-truck pulling an empty flatbed.
The 57-year-old man driving the truck could not to avoid the crash. He remained unharmed in the accident whereas Nissan’s driver was rushed to Spectrum Butterworth in serious condition. All drivers were reportedly wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. 44th Street was shut down during the investigation and cleanup. It opened again hours later.
An investigation is continuing.
