Officials identified 30-year-old Deryk Shaffer who was killed in a motorcycle crash (Big Bear Lake, CA)

Authorities identified 30-year-old Deryk Shaffer, from Big Bear City, as the man who was killed following a traffic accident Sunday on Big Bear Boulevard.

The fatal motorcycle crash took place at around 6:33 p.m. at Knickerbocker Road. On arrival, medical personnel transported the motorcycle rider, identified as Deryk Shaffer, to Bear Valley Community Hospital where he was later declared dead at 7:35 p.m.

At this time, it is unknown if any other vehicles were involved in the crash. The events that have led up to the accident also remain unclear. No other details have been provided by the officials.

An investigation is ongoing.
