Authorities identified 27-year-old Shakeisha T Spencer, from Virginia, as the woman who died of injuries she suffered following a multi-vehicle wreck Tuesday in Laplace.
The fatal three-vehicle pile-up took place just before midnight on Interstate 10 East, near MP# 203. According to the reports, Spencer was heading eastbound on the interstate in a 2021 Nissan Altima when her vehicle drifted off the left side of the road and struck the bridge rail. After that, her vehicle traveled into the right lane where it crashed into a 2016 Nissan Rogue and 2019 Jeep Compass.
Spencer was not buckled up at the time of the collision. She was rushed to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries on December 1. It is unknown if impairment was involved, but toxicology samples were obtained and will be tested as a part of the investigation. No other details are available.
