Officials identified 27-year-old Noel Melendez who died after a single-vehicle crash in Long Beach (Long Beach, CA)

On Friday, authorities identified 27-year-old Noel Melendez as the man who lost his life following a traffic collision Thursday in Long Beach.

The fatal single-vehicle crash was reported at 2:05 a.m. on the Long Beach (710) Freeway at Wardlow Road. The preliminary reports showed that the vehicle Melendez was driving veered off the side of the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway and crashed into a tree.

Noel Melendez succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His city of residence remains unknown at this time. No further details are available.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
