Officials identified 15-year-old Peter Cross who died after a motorcycle crash in Long Beach (Long Beach, CA)

Authorities identified 15-year-old Peter Cross as the teenage boy who lost his life following a high-speed crash Sunday morning in Long Beach.

As per the initial information, the fatal motorcycle accident took place at around 8:45 a.m. on Los Coyotes Diagonal and Carson Street. The preliminary reports showed that the motorcycle rider, identified as Cross, was traveling at a high rate of speed when his bike struck an object on the road.

The motorcycle lost control afterwards, and cross was thrown from his bike. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. It is unknown if impairment played a part in the wreck. No further details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
