Officials identified 15-year-old Matthew Drake who died after being hit by a vehicle in Oakland (Oakland, CA)

Authorities identified 15-year-old Matthew Drake as the teenage boy who lost his life after getting struck by a vehicle Saturday night in Oakland.

The fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place at around 9:40 a.m. on Cherry Street and 98th Avenue. The investigation reports showed that Drake was walking in a marked crosswalk when a large SUV, driven by a 32-year-old woman, hit him. Drake died of his injuries at the scene.

The driver involved remained at the scene when officers arrived. Officials believe that the female driver was under the influence at the time of the accident, and she was detained for further investigation. No other details are available.

An investigation is continuing.
