Motorcyclist killed after being hit by a car in Orange (Orange, CA)

On Monday evening, a motorcyclist died after getting hit by a turning car in Orange while the car’s driver was detained after investigators believed marijuana use played a part in the crash.

As per the initial information, the two-vehicle collision took place at 5:27 p.m. The preliminary investigation showed that the motorcyclist was traveling on North Orange Olive Road when a southbound Nissan attempting to make a left turn onto eastbound Meats Avenue struck the motorcycle.

The driver of the Nissan stayed at the scene after the crash and cooperated with the investigating team. Following an interview with investigators, the driver was taken into custody on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. The area of North Orange Olive Road was expected to be blocked until about 9:30 p.m.

The incident remains under active review.
