On Thursday evening, a motorcyclist died in a 14 Freeway crash involving a big in Santa Clarita, officials said.
At about 6:50 p.m. Thursday, emergency responders received info0rmation of a traffic collision on the northbound 14 Freeway and Newhall Avenue, as per Officer Elizabeth Kravig, with the California Highway Patrol Traffic Management Center. “We received reports of a motorcycle rider involved in a collision,” Kravig said. “One party was pronounced dead on arrival.”
Eyewitnesses on scene reported seeing the motorcyclist crash into the big rig, throwing him into the air, according to CHP incident logs. A SigAlert was issued at about 7 p.m., closing the Newhall Avenue onramp to the northbound 14 Freeway for an unknown duration in addition to the No. 3 and 4 lanes.
Authorities will continue to investigate the fatal crash.
