On Sunday afternoon, a mother and her 5-year-old son suffered injuries after the SUV they were riding in smashed through a fence and flipped down an embankment outside of a North Side hotel.
As per the initial information, the single-car crash took place at an extended stay hotel near Highway 281 and Evans. The preliminary investigation revealed that four people were inside the SUV when the dad, the driver, started backing up out of a parking spot. The car’s brakes failed and the SUV crashed through a wrought iron fence and flipped down an embankment, where it ended up on its side.
The mother injured her hip and the boy had a cut on his head due to the collision. Both the victims had reportedly suffered non-fatal injuries. On arrival, paramedics transported them to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
