Michaila Bowling, Hali Coss, and Lily Dufrene died following a head-on collision in Chackbay (Chackbay, LA)

Michaila Bowling, nursing freshman from Luling, La., Hali Coss, allied health sciences freshman from Luling, La. and Lily Dufrene, nursing freshman from Luling, La. were identified as the three Nicholls students who died in a two-vehicle accident last night.

As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place on LA Hwy 20 in the community of Chackbay. The preliminary reports showed that a vehicle, driven by 39-year-old Joey Clement of Thibodaux, collided with the girls’ SUV head-on. The reports further revealed that both cars had caught fire due to the crash.

All three occupants in the SUV received major injuries and were declared deceased at the scene. Clement showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody for DWI fourth offense with additional charges pending. No other details are available.

An investigation continues.
