A man that crashed his vehicle on I-75 died when a second vehicle hit him.
The fatal pedestrian accident took place in Hazel Park. The preliminary investigation showed that the first crash was caused when the driver failed to maintain control of his vehicle and hit the guardrail that separated the freeway from the Eight Mile Road exit. The man stopped and exited his car to check the damage when he got struck by another vehicle.
The chain reaction initiated at about 3 a.m. which led to the closure of the right two lanes. The male driver was declared dead at the scene whereas the two occupants in the second vehicle were taken to Royal Oak Beaumont with minimal injuries. According to a witness, the second vehicle was going at a high rate of speed before the accident. No other details are available.
An investigation is continuing.
