A male passenger lost his life following a suspected DUI crash Wednesday in Poway while the male driver, identified as 23-year-old Jordan Bourassa was detained in connection with the accident.
As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle wreck took place on Twin Peaks Road and Community Road at about 3:22 a.m. The preliminary reports showed that a vehicle driven by Jordan Bourassa and the unnamed male passenger were traveling east on Twin Peaks Road when their vehicle slammed into a signal light pole and rolled on its hood at the Community Road intersection.
On arrival, deputies managed to free the driver, however, the passenger remained pinned awaiting aid from the Poway Fire Department. Both men were transported to Palomar Hospital in Escondido. Despite life-saving efforts, the male passenger was declared dead at the hospital.
The driver was evaluated and released into deputy custody. Bourassa was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, bodily injury, and vehicular manslaughter. He was booked into the San Diego Central Jail. No additional information is available.
An investigation is continuing.
