On Monday afternoon, a man suffered serious injuries following a traffic collision in Bossier City.
The pickup truck crash took place at about 12:30 p.m. on Airline Drive near Gay Boulevard. Witnesses informed the officers that the driver of a red Chevy pickup truck seemed to have experienced some kind of medical episode, causing him to crash. The early reports showed that a charcoal-colored Volvo SUV was traveling north as the truck was going south on Airline.
The truck swerved into oncoming traffic and the Volvo drifted to avoid getting struck, and hit the curb. The driver of the Volvo was fine. Two airmen saw the man and they tried to get him out of the door. Bystanders attempted to pull the driver, who was unconscious and had fallen over the steering wheel, out of the truck at that time, but they failed.
On arrival, emergency responders managed to get the driver out of the truck and performed life-saving efforts. The driver of the pickup was then transported to an area hospital in critical condition. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
