Man hospitalized after a vehicle went into a water canal in Oakland (Oakland, CA)

A man was taken to a near hospital after he drove his vehicle into a water canal Sunday night in Oakland.

As per the initial information, the single-vehicle crash took place at about 9 p.m. in the area of Highway 880 and Hegenberger Road. The early reports showed that a male driver in his 50s drove off northbound I-880 between 66th Avenue and High Street.

The driver’s side was submerged, but crews managed to pull him out, treat him, and transport him to a nearby hospital. The driver was conscious when crews arrived to rescue him. No other details are available.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
