Man dead after getting struck by a train on the city’s Northeast Side (San Antonio, TX)

On early Tuesday morning, a man sleeping on train tracks lost his life after being hit by a freight train on the city’s Northeast Side.

As per the initial information, the fatal incident took place at about 12:45 a.m. on some tracks above the on-ramp at the access road of Interstate 35 and Loop 410 westbound. The early reports showed that the man was sleeping on an elevated section of the train tracks just before being hit. No one else suffered injuries as a result of the accident.

The man immediately died of his injuries at the scene. A man familiar with the area informed the authorities that he regularly sees people from a homeless encampment nearby walking across the tracks. The tracks were closed for a while, but they have since reopened. No other details are available.

The incident remains under investigation.
