Man dead after getting struck by a car in Oak Park (San Diego, CA)

A man lost his life after getting hit by an SUV early Thursday in the Oak Park community.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place on 54th Street just south of Redwood Street. The preliminary reports showed that a 34-year-old driver was traveling south on 54th Street in a 2014 Dodge Journey when the car struck the man in the roadway.

The pedestrian died of his injuries before he could be transported to the hospital. Police patrolling in the area rushed to the accident scene. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

According to the reports, the driver and a passenger in the vehicle were security guards and the SUV was a company vehicle. 54th Street between College Avenue and Redwood Street was closed down during the investigation. No other details are available.

The incident remains under investigation.
